Notes Chapter 2 & 3
This artifact is of a few of pages from my notes taken from materials referenced in the modules. I organized the items as they were assigned, and then as I moved on from the reading material, to multimedia sources and power-point information, I grouped them to make it easier to visualize all the content. I enjoy copying my notes into digital form because while I am sorting out the information, it forces me to think about what I have learned.
I used visual representation of the hydrosphere and atmosphere, as well as how pressure works. For concepts that seemed hard to grasp, I searched YouTube and found videos on those subjects – such as the expansion and contraction of pressure – made for younger viewers so that once I grasped it in a very basic level, I can then move on to better understanding our class material. I find it helpful to find other visual sources to supplement things I don’t understand, and watching someone demonstrate how things work by using very primitive tools makes it easy to see science at work which is helpful when you are learning about subjects you cannot see but know they exist, such as oxygen, pressure, and vapor. It is also entertaining to watch how these invisible things are affected by other forces that are also invisible, yet can be understood, such as temperature and altitude. It can seem like magic to see something that can’t be seen, be affected by something that can be. The reason I chose this article is because it was one of the first chapters that showed me how closely related weather is to both physics and chemistry – two subjects that I am not very skilled at, however the explanation of what is happening with pressure and wind brought these subjects to a level I could understand. |
